BARRACUDAS: sight fishing with artificials on spin tackle and fly tackle

Mi' Amor catches a big cuda off the dock in Ascension Bay, Mexico on a plug with #10 test spin while we were managing the lodge Casa Blanca. This was a great fish, and we fed the clients it for dinner.

Cudas are great to eat, and are not poisonous as long as you are not in an area that has ciguatera poisoning in the reefs. The lodge has been serving the guests big cudas for years. I have eaten cudas since I've been a kid and still eat them today. I call them: ocean snook. I have not heard of any ciguatera in the Keys, but I still don't eat them over 15 lbs.
